Wanda Hunter is no stranger to the city of Raleigh, in fact she is a native. She has served her community in several capacities without title recognition. Wanda is a notable community servant, serving the least. She is inspired by her life experiences that have showed her that even at your lowest position in life you can still give back. Wanda's inspiration and experiences keep her humble.

Wanda started her journey in Raleigh at Thompson's headstart, which was located on the corner of Hargett and Swain Street and is now Wake Young Men's Leadership Academy. She matriculated through Wake County Public School System attending Underwood elementary, Millbrook elementary, Carroll Middle, West Millbrook Middle, Sanderson High, and Garner Senior High School from which she graduated in June 1998. Wanda chose to further her education by studying accounting at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. She also studied the vocational trade of cosmetology graduating from Miller Motte College in June 2011 and obtaining her licensure in July 2012. Wanda also completed the City of Raleigh’s Neighborhood College and Citizens’ Leadership Academy.

Wanda volunteered in the workforce development industry under WEACT (Workforce Empowerment Alliance Community Team), the Hammond Road Community Taskforce, and The Employment Security Commission in the Career Readiness Center. In these positions she facilitated sessions focusing on the career keys assessment, interviewing, and financial literacy.

Wanda is the mother of three phenomenal future leaders; Passion, Shekhinah, and Courtland. She is a first time home owner. The passion that she has for her community and the opportunity presented by the city led her to purchase in the East College Park Community. She is a member of New Restoration Outreach Christian Center (NROCC) under the leadership of Bishop Eric L Ellis.

Wanda works as the resiliency coordinator for Blueprint NC, a 501c3, nonpartisan organization. Blueprint NC is a progressive ecosystem of nearly 60 formal partner organizations and an expanding web of network allies committed to building independent power for an anti-racist, inclusive democracy.
